Here are a few important messages to share.

DISASTER RECOVERY

Let the government know about your damage! You can create an account and get notices on recovery relief. Get on this list sooner than later to be sure to gain government assistance.

TAX RELIEF FROM THE IRS

According to the Internal Revenue Service, those affected by Ian could receive tax relief. The IRS made the announcement on September 29 that households that reside or have a business anywhere in the state could qualify for the tax relief. The declaration would allow the IRS to postpone certain tax-filing and tax-payment deadlines for taxpayers within the disaster areas. Certain deadlines falling on or after September 23, 2022, and before February 15, 2023, are postponed through February 15, 2023. Anyone who had a valid extension to file their 2021 return before October 17, 2022, will now have until the February 15 deadline to file.
