Without maintenance flat commercial roofs accumulate debris that clogs the drains. Clogged roof drains result in ponding water. Many times it’s deep enough to cause water to enter the building through the roof vents.
The pictures below show a neglected roof we’re currently working on. The drains were plugged and the roof was flooding to the point that water was intruding into the building. The trash bags show how much debris was just in one small section.
